We analyze each case individually to provide personalized solutions that meet specific needs of each client, whether you require help on a specific matter (legal advice, passport management, obtaining certificates...) or because you prefer full assistance throught the entire process. We offer a comprehensive and 100% personalized service.

Which animals can travel?

We accept a wide variety of animals. Each case is different, so we evaluate its specific needs. Our goal is to ensure that all animals travel safely and comfortably, always complying with the laws of each country (both the origin country and destination).

Do I always need to obtain official documentation for my pet when travelling?

When traveling with an animal, whether for a short holiday or longer stays, or for a relocation to a destination outside the European Union, you will need to arrange documents through CEXGAN. All procedures must be carried out by an authorized and accredited veterinarian.

What is a pet passport?

The European pet passport is an official document that certifies an animal's health and allows it to travel within the European Union and some associated countries. It is mandatory for traveling with pets between European Union countries and some associated countries.

Where do I get it?

Any authorized veterinarian can issue a passport.

What are the requirements to obtain it?

The animal must have a valid rabies vaccination; be identified with a microchip compliant with the ISO 11784/11785 standard, and the microchip number must be recorded in the passport.

What is CEXGAN?

It is a platform run by Ministry of Agriculture responsible for managing export certificates for animals from Spain to other countries outside the European Union.

Are the requirements the same for countries outside the European Union?

Each country has different requirements, different timelines and conditions. Although all countries, including those in the European Union, require the animal be microchipped, have a current rabies vaccine and a passport, different vaccines are requested depending on the destination. Some countries even request a test that shows the rabies vaccine has worked correctly before traveling.

Who carries out the necessary tests depending on the country?

The tests must be conducted in laboratories authorized by the European Union.

How much time is needed to complete all the procedures?

Gathering all the documentation can be up to six months. It is important to bear in mind that each country has different requirements, which is why it is important to make the inquiry and planning with due time.

What is the difference between a health certificate and an export certificate?

In the ten days prior to the journey, the health certificate is issued. Once this certificate is obtained, the export certificate is processed.

Once the export certificate is issued, we are confident that we meet all the requirements to be able to enter the destination country. It would be the equivalent of a visa.

What determines whether animals travel in the cabin or in the hold?

Generally, the maximum weight to travel in the cabin is 8 to 10 kg, except for those dogs that are identified as assistance dogs. In any case, it is essential to check with the airline first.

What are the conditions for animals travelling in the hold?

The transport of animals in the hold is totally safe and the airlines that allow it have these specific areas equipped for this purpose. The conditions are similar to those experienced by passengers in the cabin.

Is it allowed to use sedatives for transport?

The use of any sedative or tranquilizer for the transport is prohibited, although some natural supplements (that do not cause excessive sedation) may be used.

Is the transport of brachycephalic breeds allowed?

The transport in the hold of some brachycephalic breeds is restricted by IATA.
